Buffalo Bills and ADPRO Sports are proud to once again be partners in recognition of the best coaches Western New York has to offer as part of the Football School of Football 2022 Coach of the Week program.
The Bills and ADPRO Sports are awarding soccer coaches with the title of Coach of the Week to highlight not only their team’s achievements on the pitch but also some of the work they do off the pitch in their communities. The winners from the Buffalo and Rochester regions will be announced within 11 weeks, and the title of Coach of the Year for both regions will be announced at the Buffalo Bills vs New England Patriots match in January 2023 at the Highmark Stadium.
Each Coach of the Week winner will receive a $ 1,000 scholarship from Buffalo Bills and ADPRO Sports. Individual Coach of the Year winners will also receive an additional $ 1,000 for their programs. The winners will be selected by a panel of soccer experts from local high schools.

Bennett’s head coach Steve McDuffie became head of the week for the sixth week of the Buffalo Region after he led his Tigers to a 20-7 victory over Lancaster. Bennett is now 4-2, losing only to Pennsylvania tycoon Erie McDowell and Ohio tycoon Austin Finch.
“I was really proud of the kids,” said McDuffie. “We played with the ball against a very hard defense.”
In the half, Bennett was leading 12-0. In the second quarter Jayden Lewis of Bennett broke free after a 79-yard retreat to TD, but the game was canceled by a hold. The very next game Lewis caught a short pass that took 93 yards behind TD and a 6-0 lead. Bennett netted again in the 2nd quarter when Antonio Davis cut down on his 80-yard TD ride with a 1-yard QB jam to give a 12-0 lead. In the third quarter, Bennett increased the lead to 20-0 as the Tigers ran 84 yards on TD. Darnell Hamilton tapped the TD from 2 yards to complete the ride.
“I want to give my kids the best opportunity to play against the best competition we can find,” said McDuffie. “Playing this type of schedule will help our children get through and give them more opportunities for scholarships.”
McDuffie’s coaching career began as a volunteer at Grover Cleveland in 1997, then moved to St. Joe’s as assistant coach from 1999-2003. In 2010, McDuffie was appointed head coach at Bennett and has led the soccer program for 12 seasons.
While serving as head coach, McDuffie won 104 games for Bennett. He led the Tigers to the Section 6 title six times, winning two league titles. McDuffie also led his 2021 squad to the NYS Championship match at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.
The head coach has his own soccer career after playing soccer at Grover Cleveland High School and then for four years at the University of Buffalo. And in 1991, McDuffie was the first All-Western NY team as a senior.
Coach McDuffie, Bennett players and staff participate in Archie L. Hunter’s community mentoring program from YMCA Buffalo Niagara every year. The group raises funds through its annual track meeting and annual Martin Luther King Day fundraiser.
The head coach also played a large part in the revival of Westside’s little league soccer program.
To make sure his players are safe on the pitch and have a lower risk of head and neck injuries, coach McDuffie has introduced American football techniques to his program.
Rochester # 6 Coach of the Week

Canisiteo-Greenwood coach Steve Donlon became Head of Week 6 at Rochester after he led his 8-man squad to a 36: 6 win against Bolivar-Richburg last week. Read also : Kirby Smart admits he was ‘ready to step down’ last summer. Both teams entered the game 5-0 and entered the game 1st and 2nd in the 8-player section 5 ranking.
“This is the first year we’ve played 8-player football,” said Donlon. – We have a small senior class, so the 8-seater was the right one. Next year we will come back to 11 player football.
In the Bolivar-Richburg win, C-G scored in his first offensive game of the game when QB Collin Cox threw a 60-yard TD pass to JJ Reese and led 6-0. Later in the second quarter, C-G took the lead when Cox hit Paiton Davis with a 6 yd TD pass and a 14-0 lead. Boliver quit 14-6 but CG scored from 08 to the end to increase the lead to 22-6. Reese caught a TD pass from 10 yards from Cox who made 4 of 6 passes for 85 yards and 3 TDS to limit the ride.
“We don’t often get fed,” said Donlon. “I think we’ve been throwing 12 passes all year long. He had a great game.
Coach Donlon was head coach at C-G for 3 seasons and served as an assistant from 2000-2007. He spent 12 years as an assistant at Hornell under the legendary Gene Mastin and won 3 NYS titles during his time on the show. And before moving to C-G, Donlon was part of a 51-win streak as assistant coach at Vornell.
Trainer Donlon has been teaching history at Alfred-Almond High School for 20 years.
In addition to football, Coach Donlon is involved with the local Ancient Hibernian Order, which raises money for worthy local charities. Donlon emphasizes being great on and off the pitch as his goal is to help his players grow into young adults with great character.
