Following strong play down the stretch and top-ranked teams taking losses in Week 3, Penn State is moving up in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Penn State climbed to No. 15 in the final round of the coaches’ poll, which was released early Sunday afternoon. Penn State moved up eight spots from its previous ranking and jumped a few teams along the way. Penn State led the way for No. , no. 23 BYU, and No. 25 Miami all fall after this week’s loss.

Penn State started the season unranked in the Coaches Poll but made its season debut following a Week 2 win over Ohio at No. 23.

Georgia took the top spot this week in the coaches’ poll, swapping places with Alabama. Georgia received 40 of a possible 65 first-place votes; Alabama received 24 and Ohio State took one to keep its number of 3 this week.

There was a lot of movement around the entire selection of coaches. Only Ohio State and No. 6 Oklahoma kept their position from last week.

Michigan (No. 4) joins Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan State in representing the Big Ten in this week’s coaches conference.
