School grades: Jefferson County High School is revamping its faculty to combat their poor performance, WTXL reports. The school is resuming local control after five years under a charter operator. • The fate of one long-time Escambia County high school hinges on the scoring of a late-delivered box of tests, the Pensacola News-Journal reports. • The Citrus County School District dropped its grade to a C for the first time since 2010, according to the Citrus County Chronicle. Officials said they already have an answer ready.
Textbook adoption: The Collier County School Board has approved the use of new math textbooks despite criticism from some residents about the content, WBBH reports.

School districts across Florida continue to face teacher shortages. Between them, Lee County schools have nearly 300 teacher vacancies to fill with four weeks left until classes resume, WFTX reports. • The Broward County School District is looking to hire about 500 teachers, down from a year ago, WFOR reports. • Florida Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz Jr. said his department is working on initiatives to get more teachers into classrooms, The Capitolist reported. • Bay County School District officials said a lack of affordable housing is their biggest obstacle, WMBB reported.
Controversial citizenship training in Florida continues. The reaction among educators was mixed, WINK reports.
The Orange County School District has offered teachers a raise after lengthy negotiations. Some Orange County teachers are pushing back against the district’s proposal, saying it’s not good enough because of inflation, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
