High levels of uric acid or hyperuricemia affect people all over the world more than ever and can lead to many common health conditions. Lifestyle, poor diet, low water intake, high calorie foods all contribute to overeating and uric acid buildup. (Read also: 7 Ayurvedic herbs and medicines to control uric acid and reduce joint pain)

Uric acid which is a waste in the body can build up in bones and joints causing health issues such as gout, which is a form of arthritis, in addition to heart and kidney disease. High uric acid occurs when the body is unable to remove enough uric acid or too much.

Dr. Dixa Bhavsar says lifestyle changes can reverse hyperuricemia and actually reduce uric acid levels.

– Low metabolism or intestinal disorders

– Sweating or lack of exercise

– High protein intake and low fat

– There is no balance between sleep and meal time

– Kidney dysfunction (elderly patients)

How to actually reduce uric acid levels according to Dr Bhavsar.

– Exercise daily for 45 minutes

-Do not drink lentils / beans and wheat for dinner until your condition is normal

– Try eating dinner early, say before 8 p.m.

-Eat eating sour fruits like amla, berries, etc.

– Work on improving metabolism

– Control stress because it can reduce metabolism

– Get a good night’s sleep. Good sleep can help improve your digestion and concentration

Ayurveda leaves to combat high uric acid

Dr Bhavsar says guduchi popularly known as giloy is an amazing and best ayurvedic herb for gout

– If you have a plant at home, you can use it easily. Get some leafy greens and soak them overnight. In the market to boil them in the morning in a glass of water until it gets half; seed and drink.

– You can also use it in other forms such as juice, powder or tablets.

Ayurveda experts say that although there are some Ayurvedic remedies for uric acid treatment such as kaishor guggulu, punarnava, amla and aloe vera but one should avoid taking the medication on one’s own and always seek professional help. Dr. Bhavsar said the leaves should be taken in the recommended amount as it has been decided how harmful a person and body type are in order to get the best benefit and avoid any side effects.
