CHICOPEE – It will cost about $6 million to turn a long-shuttered public library into a business machine, but most of the project will be funded.
Construction study completed by Dietz & Co. determined that the building, adjacent to City Hall, is healthy but will need a variety of work including a new roof, improved plumbing and wiring, and a new insulation system fire. An elevator would have to be installed to make it compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, according to city planner Lee Pouliot.
