JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – This month, the town of Jackson has witnessed the explosion of a burglar, and this is happening this morning.
The owner of the Downtown Drug Store, Jonathan Powell, says his business broke down around 4 am on Saturday.
Powell told me that the burglar left $ 500 and other items still on the counter.
Powell claims that the thief used a brick to smash the glass.
A surveillance video shows an African-American man jumping over a counter wearing a black shirt and trousers. He goes into the closet and starts taking things from the shelves.
The thief then made his way to the cash register, where he arrived with hundreds of dollars.
Powell says he is disgusted with what happened.
“It’s not necessary to risk your life to run into someone else’s business in the middle of the night and get away from them,” Powell said. “If you need anything, people are out there to help you. They are services out there. They are the people who help the homeless and unlucky. Plans out there where you can get help if you can get a job. I’m not self-employed, but there are a lot of jobs. out there is not a job where you can work and earn money instead of taking it. “
Powell said he thinks this was an unusual experience for a person.
The owner of Jackson’s business said the thief had come in and out within less than three minutes, but not before leaving evidence.
“I saw someone picking up. It was a box right here that kept the poor, ”said Powell. “I saw it on the ground and gave it to the JPD police to take fingerprints to see if they could catch anyone.”
Powell says Jackson’s police went out to the store to investigate the incident.
