New Movies and Shows to Stream This Weekend: Elvis, The Princess, Never Have I Ever (Season 3) + More
Elvis is an icon of American pop culture, but it took an Australian filmmaker to add the glitz necessary to turn his life story and his relationship with Colonel Tom Parker into a complete feature. There are no subtleties about any aspect of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, the biopic with Austin Butler in the title role, and that’s the point. Although HBO’s The Princess is not a biopic by definition, it is a meticulously researched, in-depth record of Princess Diana’s life that is as fascinating as it is tragic, and it comes in time for the 25th (! ) on the anniversary of her death. And if you want pure, fun escapism this weekend, the beloved Netflix sitcom I Never Go Back is in its third (and final) season. The series, loosely based on Mindy Kaling’s creative life, has returned which means that John McEnroe continues to work profitably as a voice actor for another year.
