Another day, another canceled show on Netflix. The streaming platform seems to have no problem getting rid of popular shows all the time. However, Q-Force is the latest series to get the proverbial ax. The series follows a team of LGBTQ undercover agents, as they seek fame from their bosses. Although the series has a moderate viewership score of 78% on Rotten Tomatoes, the low viewership is the main reason why Q-Force has now been canceled on Netflix.
Viewers praised the series for its LGBTQ representation, but Netflix seems to have oversaturated its market with adult animation. Bojack Horseman was arguably the best animated series for adults, but most of the others fell flat on the viewer side. Big Mouth is the other popular series, although Bojack Horseman has not received as many awards as Bojack Horseman. Matt Rogers, director and writer of Netflix’s Q-Force, spoke about the cancellation. According to Rogers, “People who liked it really liked it, and the good news is that it will always be on Netflix. It didn’t get a second season, but it’s out there and it’s there.” That’s definitely a better way to look at the show being canceled. Fans can watch the series as long as it remains on the streaming platform, although the second season will not happen.
Q-Force had a great cast, which makes it that much harder to deal with. Sean Hayes was the main character, Steve Maryweather. Maryweather is a secret agent for the American Intelligence Agency (AIA). The day he becomes an agent, he comes out openly with his superiors. As a result of this the Department sends him to West Hollywood, to get him out of the way. However, Steve assembles an all-star team of agents who have also been given the same treatment. The cast includes Patti Harrison as Stat, Wanda Sykes as Deb, David Harbor as Rick, Gary Cole as Director Dirk Chunley, and Laurie Metcalf as V. Despite having a great cast, Q-Force has been canceled on Netflix.
Netflix is doubling down on canceling shows and making sure the company isn’t going under, after posting its first subscriber losses back in April’s quarterly earnings meeting. Almost 1 million was added to those 200,000 losses in the latest earnings meetings, although the number was a kind of saving grace. The company assumed it would lose almost 2 million. Despite the good news, there were plenty of shows to do away with. This is why Netflix has now canceled Q-Force. It joins a host of other shows that have been canceled in the past six months. The ton of adult animation may not appeal. At least not in the way most are marketed on the streaming platform.
