The Alabama Shakespeare Festival honored eight Alabama artists during the 2022 Celebration of the Arts. Next week, Alabama Public Television will air the celebration broadcast.
On Thursday, August 4, Alabama Public Television will broadcast the 2022 Alabama Arts Celebration. The ceremony recognizes notable Alabamians for their work and contribution to the arts in Alabama and across the country. The 90-minute show begins at 8 p.m.
This year’s Celebration of Alabama Arts honorees and awards are:
“These individuals represent the immense artistry, leadership, and generosity of the state that are integral to Alabama’s cultural landscape,” Dr. Elliot Knight, executive director of the Council on the Arts, said in a statement. Press. “The 2022 honorees have made a significant contribution to defining our state’s creative community.”
The ceremony includes performances from the Alabama Ballet, Oakwood University Aeolians, dancers from INNERGY Inc., bluegrass band Iron Horse, form note singers from Alabama, Red Mountain Theater and the Muscle Shoals Sound Tribute Band – including a special appearance by David Hood.
