Severance, the Apple TV sci-fi thriller that will return for a second time after launching in February, is close to the world of work. In the world of Dan Erickson, instead of reducing work by 45 hours, another company, Lumon, is finding it easier to work with their employees, sharing their memory between work and home.
By using the Apple font in the Severance theme series, we are reminded that the technology company we rely on is commenting on the real segment of the community it contributes to, a marvel that is not lost on production team. This is just the beginning of the good intentions of the show, as through Severance’s artistic design, we get the hallmarks of Lumon’s great planning and managing its staff.
The list opens at Lumon’s offices, while Helly (Britt Lower) wakes up at the conference table, without remembering herself. This room, with its mid-century furniture, is based on the architectural work of Eero Saarinen, as well as the color green, reminiscent of Edward Hopper’s “Nighthawks” (1942). Hopper’s solitary city revolves around Severance, with its magnificent glowing light and unspoiled space. We understand why Lumon staff chose the system, because little about their isolation deserves to be remembered.
Some references to Jeremy Hindle are so small that if you blink, you will miss them.
