The UA Arts Department is delighted to host the first Arts on Arlington community event on the evening of Thursday 28 July at Mallway Park and Arlington Avenue. This new event is designed to support and showcase AU artists, craftsmen and Mallway companies, and is the latest of Music in the Parks open-air concerts.

“While our annual Work Arts Festival serves as the largest arts festival together, the artists and artisans involved come from all over the region,” said Cultural Manager Jodi Osborne. “We wanted to provide a place that would give Upper Arlington artists the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work. Linking such an event with our concert series Music in Parks was the perfect solution. “

Over 15 UA artists will exhibit their work at several Mallway companies, which will be open to the public throughout the week from July 25. Throughout the week and during the Arts on Arlington event, visit Mallway and explore the following mini-exhibits:

A number of retailers will also be set up at Arts on Arlington, including the following artists and artisans: Banzo Butter, E PLURIBUS LTD., Tiki Botanicals, Fruits & amp; Roots, Valeri’s Crochet, Lee Ekleberry, paintings by Deborah Moorehead, artwork by Vivian Ripley, Twinzzshop, and FoodSoul’s Cuisine.

An art activity area has also been planned, courtesy of students from UA High School. Activities will include painting your own mini-canvas, painting by numbers, drawing, making a key chain and exploring clay.

Two live performances are scheduled for the evening. Red Healer will bring their soothing folk and soul brand to the stage along with the mellow sounds of Urban Jazz Coalition.

There are plenty of snacks you can enjoy. The Daily Growler will host a beer garden in Mallway Park where you can enjoy a variety of beers, wine and seltzer (credit cards only, please). A few food trucks will be delivered to N. Mallway Drive, including Graeter’s Ice Cream, Tortilla, Pitabilities, Cheesecake Castle, Kona Ice, Drank Tank and Fancy Feeding You.

The event is complemented by a visit to various community groups and companies that are improving life in AU.

Art at Arlington is made possible with the support of the Ohio Arts Council, Cats Only Veterinary Clinic and Pagetech Unlimited.

We look forward to seeing you at the Arts on Arlington inaugural community event.
