Stranger Thing 4 took the world by storm when it finally hit Netflix on May 27, almost three years after the release of season 3. It’s been a long wait for fans of the show, but its patience has been running out. awarded with one of the largest and darkest. seasons of Stranger Things always.
At the center of season 4 is a deep dive into Eleven’s past and her post-Hawkins life; Hopper’s quest to escape his Soviet captures; Max tries to deal with Billy’s death in season 3; a new series of teenage murders perpetrated by the show’s most terrible villain, the macabre Vecna; and dungeon master Eddie Munson, a heavy metal lover, a new character played by Joseph Quinn, who tries to prove that he did not commit the aforementioned murders. In other words, Stranger Things 4 has a lot to cover.
While all of these plots play to varying degrees of success in a slightly more bloated nine-episode season, it’s ultimately Max, Eddie and his guitar, and the new Upside Down king who steal the show this time around, with Sadie Sink. puts in a particularly excellent performance as someone who faces the trauma and guilt of survivors. And don’t sleep on Noah Schnapp by adding some very interesting and sincere layers to the character of Will Byers, who finally has a little more to do in season 4.
Stranger Things 4, of course, ends on a cliffhanger, ensuring that fans show up for the final season of the Netflix series, presumably in 2023 or 2024. With all of our heroes finally reunited in Hawkins for one last fight against Vecna and the strength of Upside Down, Stranger Things 5 is poised to be the show’s biggest season ever.
But for now, the fourth season has spent the last few weeks topping the Netflix Top 10 TV Shows list, putting it in first place since the show released its last two episodes on July 1st. July, with more and more viewers showing up to pick up their favorite sci-fi horror series (or watch it from the beginning), Stranger Things has finally been knocked out of the top spot by another Netflix production.
Despite somewhat tipped criticism, the new eight-episode Resident Evil series of the streamer is now the first Netflix television show in the United States, removing Stranger Things from its throne in its first weekend. This is a good sign for the new zombie drama, and also showrunner Andrew Dabb (Supernatural), who recently told Den of Geek that he planned to keep Resident Evil on Netflix for years to come.
This new adaptation of the classic horror video game series follows franchise villain Albert Wesker (Lance Reddick) and his daughters Jade and Billie as they move to New Raccoon City, funded by Umbrella Corporation, where secret experiments are being conducted that may change the world. Fans of the long-running franchise probably already know exactly what’s cooking in Wesker’s Umbrella lab, but the Netflix series gives it a few interesting twists that keep viewers guessing.
Now the question is how long Resident Evil has been in the top spot on Netflix? It remains to be seen, but this is definitely a strong start for the show, which will only hit the streaming service on July 14th. It remains to be seen if that means fans will get season 2 of Resident Evil.
