NEW YORK (AP) – Ryan Fitzpatrick brings his magic touch to the broadcast booth.
Amazon Prime Video announced on Tuesday that Fitzpatrick, a recently retired quarterback journeyman nicknamed “FitzMagic”, is joining the streaming service as an analyst in season one as the exclusive home of “Thursday Night Football.”
Fitzpatrick will be part of Amazon’s pre-game, half-time and post-game coverage.
Although the 39-year-old has started in a record nine teams in his 17-year career, only one of this Thursday night’s matches will feature two of his former teams: the Cincinnati Bengals, which hosted the Miami Dolphins on September 29.
“One of the big figures in the league, Ryan has been a fan favorite and a beloved teammate wherever he has been in the past 17 seasons,” said Jared Stacy, director of global sports production at Prime Video, in a statement. “We’re excited to have him on our team now, and we know our viewers will love his sense of humor and intelligence at the show every week.”
Fitzpatrick joins Tony Gonzalez’s Hall of Fame players and Richard Sherman’s Cornerback All-Pro as studio analysts. Al Michaels will be a play-by-play commentator with Kirk Herbstreit as his stand partner.
Prime Video will hold a pre-season match when San Francisco faces Houston on August 25. His first regular season game on Thursday will take place on September 15, when Kansas City will host the Los Angeles Chargers.
