From the premiere of the explosive The Gray Man trailer, moviegoers have known they are in a relentless high-octane action as Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling battle it out as rivals Lloyd Hansen and Court Gentry, respectively. The chaos in the clip was very different from the steamy romantic scenes between Simon Basett and Daphne Bridgerton on Bridgerton, and Page would not have it any other way. And the actor from The Gray Man recently raised the violence of the Netflix movie.
Bridgerton’s alum went all in when it comes to action movies as his name continues to float around the James Bond conversation. While it seems like Page isn’t getting his hands dirty in the Evans-Gosling contest, he’s talking about the guns, explosions and stunts that come with a spy-oriented movie. According to We Got This Covered, the British actor has already touted the Russo frat-helit film by comparing it to the film series Bond and Jason Bourne.
There is no limit to the scope of this film. It’s a global travel adventure, but with spies, explosions, guns falling from planes — there’s nothing that’s wrong with this movie. It has this ‘How is this guy still on his feet?’ and it has that soft costumes and sophistication Bond factor. It has that hyperreal, hyperviolent Bourne factor. It just touches everything and makes something more delicious together thanks to the wedding of all those elements.
Page served as the perfect hit for the Netflix action movie. While The Gray Man will cut his way out, drawing elements of Bond and Bourne is a wonderful way to build a spy thriller. A pull from those two successful franchises could bode well for the Netflix movie if the streamer wants to build a franchise. Lead man Ryan Gosling is already open to the possibility of The Gray Man 2 with Court Gentry rising in status.
After No Time to Die fell in 2021, viewers were looking for the next spy movie to go back. Fast action and great emotions were the strength of moviegoers as seen in the successes of Dr. Strange 2, Top Gun and Thor: Love and Thunder. According to those who have seen The Gray Man, the film is a fun and high-octane spy movie that viewers have been waiting for.
While viewers wait to see how well the spy film will do, Page has already moved on to another project of the Russo brothers. He will star and serve as executive producer of an untitled stealth film. But the Bridgerton star will also star in a live-action adaptation of Dungeons and Dragons with Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith and Hugh Grant. The film is set to hit theaters in March 2023.
Viewers won’t have to wait much longer to see Regé-Jean Page and co. in action as The Gray Man arrives on Netflix on July 22.
