Everyone loves time travel shows now, from The Umbrella Academy to Loki to Dark and beyond. The same goes for shows set in the 80s — let’s take a look: Stranger Things, GLOW, The Haunting of Bly Manor. Combine them and you get Paper Girls, a time-travel mystery series we absolutely love.
After the first teaser, Prime Video has released the official trailer for the upcoming series. Based on a comic by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang, this series follows four friends and newspaper deliverymen KJ (Fina Strazza), Erin (Riley Lai Nelet), Mac (Sofia Rosinsky), and Tiffany (Camryn Jones).
It’s 1988 in Cleveland, Ohio, the day after Halloween, and the four of them inadvertently find themselves beaming forward into 2019—where their grown-up selves are too (including Ali Wong as grown-up Erin). They must save the world, of course, but they must outrun the militant faction of time travelers known as the Old Watch, who forbid time travel.
All eight episodes of Paper Girls arrive on Prime Video on July 29.
