Georgetown City Council is looking for individuals to showcase their work and artistic ability, as well as proposals for the next round of Arts and Culture Fellowships. The Arts and Culture Program has also organized a quarterly lunch.

Looking for Applicants for the 2022-23 Sculpture Tour

Georgetown City Council is looking for tickets for the 2022-23 Sculpture Tour, with a jury from the busy Georgetown Cultural District for a year-round outdoor exhibition. Applications will be accepted from 12:01 to 23:59 on June 1st. August 1.

Each sculptor can submit a maximum of three sculptures for consideration. The Georgetown Arts and Culture Commission will select eighteen sculptures to appear on the tour, including outdoor exhibits around the plaza, at the Georgetown Public Library and the Georgetown Recreation Center.

The sculptures will be installed in October and will be on display until October 2023. All sculptors selected to participate in the tour will receive a cash prize of $ 2,000 for first place, $ 1,500 for second place and $ 1,000 for honorable mention.

The Art and Culture Scholarship Proposal is open

The Georgetown Arts and Culture Board is now inviting grant proposals for events and programs from October 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023, as part of the 2022 second round of grants. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2022.

The Georgetown Arts and Culture Board awards grants twice a year for visual arts, music, theater, dance, literature, and cultural heritage events and programs in Georgetown. All applicants are considered regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran, or disability status.

Non-profit organizations, schools, and arts and culture organizations that create arts and culture programming may request an informal or public event. Organizations that received funding during the first scholarship period of 2022 cannot apply for the second round of 2022.

Brown Art and Culture Bag Lunch

The quarterly Arts and Culture Brown Bag Luncheon will return at noon on July 14th. Grab your lunch and join us at the Georgetown Public Library for a presentation by Gary Wang, lead architect and founder of Wang Architects. His presentation, “Landscape and Architecture as a Bridge to Public Art,” explains how to use art and public art in large-scale architecture and design projects. Updates on art and cultural actors from the Downtown Georgetown Cultural District will be followed by Wang’s presentation.
