Jan 13 (Reuters) – The United States and Japan on Friday reiterated the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and warned against any use of nuclear weapons by Russia in Ukraine.

The two countries also cited North Korea’s “provocations” in a joint statement issued by the White House after a meeting between US President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

“We strongly oppose any unilateral attempt to change the status quo through force or coercion, anywhere in the world,” the statement said.
