The President of the United States Joe Biden said on Friday while speaking to the protesters at a college in Irvine, California, that the USA stands with the brave women of Iran who are protesting after the death of Mahsa Amini- who was arrested by the morality police.

“I was surprised by what he woke up in Iran. It sparked something that I don’t think will be silenced for a long time,” Biden said as he spoke to protesters who gathered “Free Iran” signs at him.

According to the i24 news report, Biden also said that he is ‘stunned’ by the mass protests in Iran. The President also emphasizes that Iran must stop violence against its people who are just trying to exercise their basic rights. Women all over the world are oppressed in different ways, but they should be allowed to wear whatever they want.

He also thanked the Persian community for speaking up.

Iran is witnessing the biggest wave of protests after the death of the young Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini who was arrested and tortured by the Iranian morality police for not wearing “proper clothing”.

So far over 100 people have lost their lives due to the police crackdown on Iranian protesters.
