Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship, Norwegian Prima, has officially completed her first voyage to the United States, sailing October 6-10 from New York City to Halifax and Nova Scotia, Canada.

The ship made its major US debut in the Big Apple on October 6, after becoming the first-ever major cruise ship to be christened in August in Reykjavik, Iceland.

As a native New Yorker, this city is as close to my heart as it is to our company, which has served NCL from the Big Apple since 1991, so we are delighted that our newest ship, Norwegian Prima, made her maiden US voyage in New York City,” said Harry Sommer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Norwegian Cruise Line.

“We are excited to show travelers everything Norwegian Prima has to offer, including increased space, thoughtful design and superior service that will exceed guest expectations.”

Norwegian Prima welcomed over 2,400 guests who enjoyed onboard experiences including the three-story racetrack, a brand new dining concept called Indulge Food Hall, two dry slides, infinity pools at Infinity Beach and The Metropolitan – the cruise industry’s first sustainable cocktail bar.

Norwegian Cruise Line also premiered a brand new Broadway-caliber show, Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, aboard the Prima. The 85-minute jukebox musical turns the theater into a disco as guests join the show and dance to Summer’s favorite medleys.

After completing her first series of cruises from NYC, visiting destinations including Bermuda, Virginia Beach, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Puerto Rico, Prima will return to New York for round-trip sailings from March 28, 2023 through May 14 to offer Bermuda. 2023

For the 2023 summer season, the ship will return to Europe, operating voyages from Reykjavik, Iceland and Southampton, England.

Norwegian Prima is the first of six planned ships in Norwegian’s new Prima class, which at 143,535 gross tons is slightly smaller than the ships in the Breakaway and Breakaway Plus classes.
