El Paso, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers, in cooperation with several law enforcement agencies, coordinated the extradition of a United States citizen with an arrest warrant for a murder in Dallas, Texas.
“It’s common for people to flee the country to avoid prosecution,” said Port Administrator Ray Provencio. “CBP often partners with law enforcement agencies nationally and internationally to apprehend and prosecute criminals.”
On Sept. 21, CBP officers were notified that a 20-year-old man, a U.S. citizen, wanted for capital murder, was arrested in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico by Mexican State Police officers. . CBP officers coordinate with local, state, federal and international agencies to repatriate the person. The person was escorted to the international border by Mexican State Police officers and taken through the border crossing on the Stanton Dedicated Commuter Lane.
The individual was secured and escorted to a second screening where biometric verification verified his identity along with an active warrant for mass murder, from Dallas, Texas.
The person was arrested by CBP officers and taken to the United States Marshals Service.
