On behalf of the United States Government, I congratulate El Salvador on its 201st Independence Day.

The people of El Salvador and the United States share a unique bond of friendship, family ties and partnership. Salvadorans seek security and prosperity for their families and the ability to celebrate their individual freedoms—desires that the people of the United States also share. El Salvador and its people have shown remarkable resilience against the COVID 19 pandemic, supported by donations of medical supplies and over three million doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine from the American people.

The United States remains committed to working with El Salvador on mutual priorities, including combating transnational crime, promoting security, good governance and human rights, economic growth, and the humane management of migration. The United States joins El Salvador in celebrating 201 years of Salvadoran independence and achievements as we look forward to a future marked by the security, economic, and democratic conditions in which all Salvadorans can thrive.

The people of the United States wish Salvadorans everywhere a very happy 201st Independence Day.
