After the fall of the Soviet Union, many former states, including Georgia, were left to deal with stockpiles of hazardous materials: nuclear, chemical, and biological. Since 1992, the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has been working with partners across the Georgian government to create enhanced capacity for the storage, handling, transportation, and disposal of these materials. This week, the DTRA team is meeting with various ministries of the Georgian government to discuss ongoing projects and future cooperation in the name of helping Georgia to be safe and secure.
