Speaking at the opening of the 56th National Folk Art Festival in Zeliezovce (Zselíz), in southern Slovakia, Kövér said that “the main source of endangered nations” in Europe, including the Carpathian Basin, has changed. The nation-states have one effective weapon to defend themselves and to fight against the financial power of globalization: the force of their national identity deeply rooted in the Christian culture of Europe, said Kövér.
