Washington (July 29, 2022) – Senators Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) today released the following statement regarding President Biden’s nomination of Julie Rikelman to the United States Court of Appeals. Circuit:

“Julie Rikelman is a distinguished attorney who has spent nearly half of her 25-year career as the lead litigator for one of America’s premier women’s reproductive rights institutions. Rikelman has a sharp intellect, extensive experience defending the rights of individuals, and a knowledge of our Constitution and laws that bring invaluable experience to the Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Rikelman and his family, who immigrated to Boston from Ukraine as refugees fleeing religious persecution in the late 1970s, reflect America at its best. We enthusiastically recommended Rikelman as a First Circuit candidate. We commend President Biden for his nomination and strongly support his nomination.
