United States cattle inventory down 2%
WASHINGTON, July 23, 2022 – There were 98.8 million cows and calves on US farms as of July 1, 2022, according to the Cattle report released today by the National Agriculture Service. of U.S. Agricultural Statistics. (NASS).
Other key findings in the report were:
To get an accurate measure of the current state of the U.S. cattle industry, NASS surveyed nearly 15,400 workers across the country during the first half of July. Surveyed producers were asked to report their beef production as of July 1, 2022, and their calf crop for the entire 2022 year online, by mail or by phone.
