Medals were awarded in only two competitions on Thursday in the World Athletics Championships, but there were two major competitions for two different countries.
The United States, which has led the medal count for several days, swept the men’s 200 meters on Thursday night, with Noah Lyles taking the gold while Kenneth Bednarek took the silver and Erriyon Knighton took the bronze.
In the women’s 200, Jamaica took two of the medals with Shericka Jackson taking first place and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in second place. Third place in the race was Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith.
Jamaica moves to third place in the medal count, draw with Kenya. Both countries have a total of six medals. Ethiopia retains its place in second place, with eight medals.
