DALLAS, Texas (KBTX) – Many Americans are leaving the city after a summer of travel frustrations with fluctuating fuel prices and canceled and delayed flights.
AAA Texas’ Daniel Armbruster joined First News at Four to discuss what will be another busy Labor Day weekend and why this year’s travel season is unique.
This holiday weekend, 32% of Americans said in a AAA survey that they will travel, and about 12% of them will go 50 miles or more to a leisure destination. Armbruster attributes the rise in travel to fuel prices. In Texas, pump prices have fallen for 11 straight weeks.
Labor Day usually marks the end of summer travel and vacations, however, this year many people will continue to travel during the fall months at a rate that surpasses even 2019. According to AAA’s fall travel survey, 73% of participants planned to take a vacation after Labor Day.
“There’s still generally pent-up demand for travel, and that’s related to COVID-19, of course people not being able to travel a lot then, and then inflation,” Armbruster said.
Armbruster shared some travel tips to avoid some hassles.

When should you stop flying?
