MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – Air travel is back in full swing since the onset of COVID-19, but there are still some growing pains affecting everyone’s travel plans.

Air travel has always had problems with weather delays, cancellations, and even maintenance, but since returning to travel, flying across the country has been painless. COVID-19 has closed many roads, leading to people losing their jobs. Meaning that pilots, flight attendants and baggage workers have all been let go, but now they are all traveling again these problems could last a long time.

“The pilots union said there were seven thousand new pilots in the United States last year. Well that’s very true, it’s like saying there were seven thousand babies born. They’re not ready to go to work , but you have years of experience needed before you can ever go to work,” said Meridian Airport Authority President Tom Williams.

Flights across the country are delayed and even canceled, but here in Meridian, everything has been on time.
