Olivia Pepple and Penn-Trafford will play Oakland Catholic on Monday night.

Call it the top three teams in Division 3-5A girls basketball in the WPIAL.

Oakland Catholic leads the division with a 4-0 record, followed by McKeesport and Penn-Trafford, each half a game back at 3-0 in the division.

Combined, the trio has a combined record of 28-4.

Starting Monday and continuing for the next eight days, the three heavyweights will clash in the first matchup of two regular seasons.

The first showdown is Monday when Penn-Trafford (9-1) visits Oakland Catholic (9-2). Watch the Trib game on HSSN at 7:30 p.m

On Thursday, Penn-Trafford hosts McKeesport, Jan. 17 McKeesport is home to Oakland Catholic.

Latrobe and Thomas Jefferson are also in Division 3-5A. Both the Wildcats and Jaguars are winning games overall, but both are already two games behind the trio in the loss column.

The top four girls basketball teams in Division 2-6A face off on Monday.

First place Upper St. Clair visits the Chartiers Valley while Mt. Lebanon hosted by Peters Township.

The Panthers lead the division 3-0, 8-2 overall. The host Colts rebound to 2-1 in the division, 6-3 overall.

The Indians are also 2-1 in the division, 8-4 overall while the Blue Devils are a half game behind USC with a 3-1 record and 7-4 overall.

There are two Class 5A girls games on Monday with at least a share of first place up for grabs.

In Division 1-5A, first-place Indiana (3-0, 7-4) hosts Franklin State (3-1, 4-6).

In Division 2-5A, top-seeded Mars (3-0, 8-2) hosts Shaler (2-1, 10-2).

There’s an exciting girls/boys basketball doubleheader set for Monday about 90 minutes east of Pittsburgh.

The Greensburg Central Catholic boys and girls teams hit the road in the District 5 battle of Berlin-Brothersvalley.
