Greenwood Christian lost 52-37 at home to Hauser on Thursday evening. Sydney Waldron scored 19 points for the Cougars (2-12), with Faith Kresge adding 10.

Whiteland defeated Beech Grove 61-20 on Wednesday. Addison Emberton scored 12 points and Claire Coryell 10 for the Warriors (8-8), who also got eight points from Gwen Higdon and seven from Carly Vondilingen.

Franklin lent itself well to reclaiming the Midstate Conference title with a strong performance during Thursday’s preliminaries. The Grizzly Cub boys enter Saturday’s finals with Brady Campbell (200 and 500 freestyle), Aleksandr Ries (200 IM, 100 breast) and Isaac Layton (100 butterfly) as top seeds; on the girls side, Lili Ratzlaff (200 free), Jenna Miller (100 free) and Allie Lacy (100 backstroke) will be seeded.

Nominations are being sought for the Indian Institute of Sports Excellence, which honors athletes, teams, and coaches who have made significant contributions to school sports programs and the community. The chosen ones may live or die.

A committee will select from among the candidates those who are the most suitable for them or who exceed the criteria. The honors night will be held on February 24th during halftime of the South Putnam varsity boys basketball game.
