Big Philadelphia sports media news:

This is a significant loss for local Phillies coverage. Salisbury had a great Phillies source and it was one of their quality, old school reporters. Always at the forefront of baseball news and highly respected in the market. He started here in 1996 I believe, with The Philadelphia Inquirer, then transitioned to NBC Sports Philadelphia to become their baseball insider.
Jim’s daughter had a stroke about half a decade ago. Bob wrote about it again, explaining that Mary Salisbury had “significant spinal cord injuries and widespread paralysis” while noting that Philly sports fans contributed in a big way. I imagine it’s a comprehensive family care business here, so it’s difficult with the travel required to do their job. Stepping away should allow him to be around his daughter more often.
But yeah, this is a big loss for NBCSP’s Phillies coverage. Ask anyone there and they’ll tell you how respected Salisbury is. This type of guys do not come around very often, and there are not many left in the market.
