The 2022 college football season now heads to the end of October. Some teams, at this point in the year, are aiming to be bowl eligible, while other programs are trying to get coaches off the hot seat. The drama is heating up across the country as the temperatures cool, and Week 8 on CBS Sports Network is full of quality action.

Western Kentucky kicked off the weekend Friday night defeating UAB 20-17 in a clash of Conference USA rivals. Then on Saturday comes a four-game stretch of action that stretches from the midday window until after midnight for East Coast viewers. Louisiana-Monroe and Army are up first before a trio of conference games round out the day’s action.

Miami, Ohio hosts Western Michigan in MAC battle later in the afternoon before the Mountain West takes center stage. A resurgent Boise State team travels to take on Air Force and Nevada hosts San Diego State to cap off a jam-packed weekend for the gridiron.

Storylines: Both teams rank among the worst offenses in the nation, so it could be a defensive battle. Nevada quarterbacks have not thrown a touchdown in six games against FBS opponents this season. There was an offensive coordinator change at San Diego State earlier this month, with Jeff Horton replacing Jeff Hecklinski. It paid some dividends in a 16-14 win over Hawaii, as the Aztecs piled up 417 total yards.
