The Phillies returned home tied with the Padres in the penultimate round of the MLB playoffs. They exited Game 3 two wins short of the World Cup.

Philadelphia’s Ranger Suarez outscored San Diego starter Joe Musgrove on Friday, leading the plucky NL East wild card club to a 4-2 victory.

Here are the best plays from Game 3 of the NLCS.

Phillies 4, Padres 2 (Phillies lead 2-1)

Phillies fans were rocking for the first Championship Series game at the stadium in more than a decade, and left-hander Kyle Schwarber homered with the leadoff hit, giving his team a 1-0 lead.

The Padres want to win this game and don’t care about the aesthetics of the effort. The team highlighted a critical error by Jean Segura, who hit a lob in the second guard to stop the tying run.

Segura made up for it with a two-play single on a great breaking ball. Segura hadn’t swung and missed on a curveball all season (yes, read that again), so he dropped and moved away to push an off-speed ball into center field.

Alec Bohm has respectable power, but he didn’t try to do too much in this two-out offering, hitting an opposite-field basket to score Nick Castellanos and put Philly up 4-2.

Segura went from potential scapegoat to potential game MVP, following his two-RBI single with a Web gem to keep San Diego at bay.

And he let his emotions out after an amazing game.

The ninth inning was as fiery as any other for both teams. Facing the final three outs, San Diego made a valiant attempt to rally, but its momentum was snuffed out after Jurickson Profar was thrown out on a costly throw.

Seranthony Dominguez retired the next two batters to seal the win for Philly.
