To promote the latest installment in the NHL video game series, EA Sports has released its official simulated season. In it, the Penguins defeat the Colorado Avalanche and win the 2023 Stanley Cup.
The Pens defeated the Carolina Hurricanes, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs this virtual season.
It’s been a good virtual year for Sidney Crosby, finishing ninth in the regular season and also winning the Conn Smythe as playoff MVP.
A simulation is just a simulation, but it’s always nice to see the penguins win the cup – virtually or in real life.
Last year EA Sports liked Tampa over Vegas for the 2022 Stanley Cup. That was a pretty good prediction, Tampa made it to the finals but lost to Colorado. Vegas didn’t even make the playoffs but had a tumultuous season that wasn’t imagined early on.
Hopefully this time they are a bit more specific for the predicted result of the upcoming season.
