Eighteen of the 24 Bearcats are female student-athletes, with four each from the basketball, soccer, and track teams. UC featured 11 first teams overall.

The awards honor students of color who have excelled both in the classroom and on the athletic field. Inspired by tennis legend Arthur Ashe, Jr.’s commitment to education, as well as his love for the game of tennis, US colleges and universities are invited to participate in this annual awards program by nominating its outstanding sports scholars.
