WORCESTER, MA.

From 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., the club will host a free panel at the DCU Club in Polar Park. The panel includes influential women in the sports industry, such as Jen Toland, who has been Telegram & Journalist for more than 30 years; Kate Myshrall, who covered the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, the National Football League and the Summer Olympics as a sports reporter for NESN and NBC for 13 years; Boston Renegades star Allison Cahill, the first quarterback to lead a women’s soccer team to seven national titles; Professor Libby O’Hara, who directs the Sport Management Program at Assumption University; and Katie Wickstrom, former captain of the Santa Clara University women’s rowing team.

During pregame ceremonies, the WooSox will honor panelist Kate Myshrall as their “Hometown Hero.” As their “Heart of Worcester”, the club recognizes Girls Inc.

Other pregame honorees include Missy Clement of the Sharks Women’s Slow Pitch Softball Team from Warwick, RI; reigning Miss Massachusetts Britt Klocko, former New England Patriots cheerleader and current UMass Memorial ER nurse; and the reigning Miss Connecticut Dr. Brianna Muñoz, a former Pats cheerleader who now serves as president of the Connecticut Oral Health Initiative.

The national anthem will be performed by WooSox photographers and the talented singers Tayla Bolduc and Natalie Reid.

During the game, fans will be greeted on the video board by several prominent women in the Red Sox family: Janet Marie Smith, who worked with WooSox chairman and principal owner Larry Lucchino to create Oriole Park at Camden Yards, save Fenway Park and design Polar. Park; pioneering Red Sox coaches Bianca Smith and Katie Krall; and Portland Sea Dogs Broadcast Director Emma Tiedemann.

“Women have held top positions in organizations led by Larry Lucchino for more than 33 years,” said WooSox President Dr. Charles Steinberg. “We want to show young women that doors are open, roads are free and heights are limitless.

“At WooSox, women hold a variety of leadership roles, from executive vice president, senior vice president, vice president, to department heads. There is nothing gender specific about the love of baseball or baseball career opportunities.

Fans will receive a special “UniBank Women in Sports” silicone wristband upon entering the Polar Park. Additionally, the WooSox Team Store will be selling limited edition “Women in Sports” jerseys.
