The end of the USFL’s inaugural season was as spectacular as its beginning, and bettors watching the league probably weren’t surprised to find the Birmingham Stallions winning it all.

After beating the Philadelphia Stars 33-30 in a thrilling football showdown Sunday night on FOX, the studs officially rode away with the championship trophy.

The Stallions were the most consistent team in the USFL, and from a betting perspective, players backing burgundy and white got a nice return on their investment.

Including the playoffs, B-Ham dominated and ended the season 11-1 (SU). This means that bettors who have played Birmingham on the money line for 12 weeks have benefited well.

And while the Stallions didn’t cover in the championship game, they still made some money for their backers. More modest – but still a winning proposition – was the ROI of betting on them to cover every game. The team finished with a 7-5 record against the spread (ATS) and earned players cash 58% of the time.

Dizzy all the way to the bank, bettor from Birmingham. You deserve it.

And from covering the spread to winning the championship trophy, the studs certainly earned their winning season. While things looked easy on the pitch in Birmingham, most people didn’t expect their dominant season, including the odds makers. In fact, Birmingham weren’t even among the favorites to win it all early in the regular season. Before the start of the season, the team’s odds of winning the title were listed as +550 at FOX Bet, which finished fourth.

While the future for the USFL’s second season isn’t yet available, FOX Bet sports dealer Martin Pascual predicts next season is likely to be even more exciting for fans and bettors.

“After a season has already been played, there will now be more awareness and people will be more interested in betting on the sport,” predicted Pascual.

And as that interest grows, bettors need to remember that betting on the underdog can be fun and profitable. The Champion Stallions are the perfect example of this truth.

Will the Stallions run the league next season like they did in the inaugural year? Or will the spoils be awarded to a new winner next year? Stay tuned to FOX Sports as it all unfolds!
