I have been a big fan of Gov. JB Pritzker. His achievements were many. He handled the COVID crisis with grace and harmony with his daily wishes, instructions and great health team. He finally reached an agreement on criminal justice reform that should be a model for every country. His actions on climate change go beyond what other countries are doing.

But his money to boost his opponent’s campaign was wrong. It may be legal, but it shows inhumanity, especially compared to his other actions. Money in politics has become a major problem since the Supreme Court declared that corporations have the same rights as individuals in the Citizens United decision. Rich people have the right to spend their money as they see fit. But laws should limit what is used, how it is used and for what purpose.

People running for re-election should run on their record. They should ignore their opponents’ attacks and simply explain to the public why their record is superior to their opponent’s. Pritzker has a very good record. He should stick with that and let the Republican ads fall where they may.
