The candidate forum invited those seeking school board and county commission seats on August 23 primary. Representatives from Marco Rubio for the Senate and Ron DeSantis for the Governor’s campaign also spoke. LeAnna Cumber, city councilwoman from Jacksonville was invited to give a keynote message. Several direct auction items were also auctioned, including a turkey hunt and guided tour, a queen -size patriotic handmade quilt sewn by Brenda Dopson, a member of BCWN, and beautiful stained glass windows. The hit tonight was a heart-felt oration by Sheriff Scotty Rhoden, which carried three vertical ovations.

Sheriff Rhoden thanked BCWN for hosting the event, but felt heavy in his heart and mind to speak to the crowd on the tragic school shootings. He reassured us that BCSO trains its officers in this area and they will stand forcefully firm and will bring perpetrators if this ever happens in our city. The audience was moved by pride and appreciation for the sheriff’s and the presence of law enforcement that he provides for our community.
