Attorney General Ashley Moody is recognizing Consumer Protection Month by highlighting the resources available to service members to prevent fraud.
Consumer Protection Month is a public awareness campaign led by the Federal Trade Commission. More than 1.5 million veterans, 100,000 service members and their families live in Florida.
Moody’s recommended a new “Guide to Resource Protection for Military Consumers” published by his office, which includes information on frauds aimed at military families and laws that protect members of the service.
Military members and families are encouraged to read “Scams at a Glance: Protect Our Patriots,” a quick reference guide with tips on how to avoid fraudulent schemes. In addition, Moody’s office has a Military and Veterans Support Program within its Consumer Protection Division that assists members of services in dealing with fraud and related issues.
