Former Missouri Senate candidate Jason Kander was in the midst of a promising run for mayor of Kansas City when he unexpectedly left the race to seek treatment for mental health issues he was experiencing as a result of his time in Afghanistan. In a new book, “Invisible Storm: A Soldier’s Memoir of Politics and PTSD,” Kander explains how he finally realized he needed help – and how that realization led to a whole new life.
