CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – Protests continue across the country in response to Supreme Court ruling in the case of Roe vs. Wade, and Wyoming is no exception.
“I felt that someone else my age was not really involved or doing anything like this. I was tired of sitting on my bed and trying to get a protest so I decided to I have one, ”said protest organizer Korlyn Sweeney.
In Casper, protesters gathered at McKinley and 12th Street on Wednesday evening. The venue was chosen to be close to the Garden Policy, an event held on Wednesday that gives the first candidates a chance to speak to the community.
“I took it seriously in politics in the garden, I read a few things that I don’t agree with some of the speakers, so I wanted to say that,” Sweeney said.
Pro-Choice Wyoming and local organizers held a similar demonstration on Friday, June 24 outside the Women’s Care Center at True Care. For Sweeney, it is the first time she has organized a protest event, but she is grateful to like-minded community members for coming out.
“Just without saying how much I am very happy that there are women in this city in red who want to come out and support them,” Sweeney said.
One of the Park’s policy participants said Roe was a dead issue, and protesters should find other reasons to support him.
