CORAL GABLES – Independence Day at the Biltmore Hotel is back after a two-year hiatus due to COVID. Officials expect a large crowd, perhaps 40,000, to celebrate our nation’s birthdays.
“Life, freedom and fun,” said David, who attended.
David welcomes the chance to celebrate Fourth at the Biltmore, even providing his “fun” version of the Declaration of Independence.
And what he brings to families in the Biltmore is to have fun and enjoy the atmosphere.
“Family and celebrating America’s independence,” Laz said, taking his family to the Biltmore.
Even the youngest among us are excited.
“I love everything about Independence Day celebrations,” said Sophia, who was celebrating with her family.
Keeping everyone safe was the Coral Gables Police Department, which turned to drone technology. At the command center, police can respond quickly to any incident on the base using the drone. The department joins Bond to use this high-tech equipment.
“The team is very focused and attentive,” said Bond Chief Executive Doron Kempel.
Kempel is going to see the drone in action. Police will only use it on mission-specific calls. Not for random surveillance. Once deployed, it uses the video to provide real-time information to the command center to help assess a situation.
“911 call us and deliver the drone to the scene. Different today – a kind of place where the perp will not be located with the victim,” Kempel said.
Therefore, communication will be essential in the event of an accident.
And the people in the crowd welcome the additional technology.
“If it keeps us safe, go for it!” said David.
