Events benefit from the Huntsville Hospital Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund

HUNTSVILLE – More than 1,100 children need special care in the State’s Intensive Care Unit each year. Huntsville Hospital Foundation’s 17th Miracle Bash and Swim for Melissa events are once again raising funds to provide life-saving equipment and services to these sick and premature infants at Huntsville Hospital for Women & amp; Children.

There are two ways to get involved and support the NICU:

Proceeds from both events benefit the Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund at Huntsville Hospital, which will truly breathe life into NICU babies in the future. The money raised will provide high-tech breathing apparatus, including the airways of the most sick infants and the nostrils for those who need a little extra breathing. The grant will also purchase comfort items for families when they visit and connect with their children, including eating in private bedside.

“For 17 years, countless sponsors and guests have helped our family raise funds to provide almost every life-saving device in the Infant Care Unit,” said Amy George, founder of the HHF Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund. “It means the world is open to members of our community to help us respect Melissa’s life, while making sure other NICU babies get the equipment and care they need. We look forward to seeing you next summer as we try. to raise enough to meet the current priority needs of the unit. “

Miracle Bash tickets are $ 85 and can be purchased at bidpal.net/bash2022. To find out more about swimming in Melissa 2022 or to register your child for $ 25, visit swimformelissa.org.
