JACKSON, Tenn. – The annual food drive is planned.
According to information received from RIFA, on August 20, the organization will hold its annual Pack the Bus event in Jackson. The food drive is working with RIFA’s Snack Backpack ministry to collect food donations for children in need.
The event will have buses set up at all Kroger and Walmart locations in Jackson from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. Those interested in donating are asked to bring easy-to-prepare, nutritious, delicious food and goodies to help fill the bus.
RIFA’s Snack Backpack program helps provide area families with nutritious meals and snacks for school-aged children, who have little or no food on the weekends.
RIFA’s Snack Backpack program provides more than 1,200 children with meals each week during the school year. The backpacks actually distributed six meals and two snacks for each child.
“The bus funds are critical to helping us provide sustainable meals to children who otherwise would not be able to go,” said RIFA Director Lisa Tillman. She continued, “These donations can make a big difference in the lives of children.”
RIFA was created in 1976 and continues to contribute to the efforts of communities to fight hunger.
