While the new name is one clever pun on the term “abundant” that some may find above the top, it perfectly shows the current situation of this invasive fish species responsible for about 70% of the biomass in the Illinois River (according to Axios) . In addition, copy looks much more attractive and delicious on menus than Asian carp.
The four species of Asian carp (grass carp, large-headed carp, silver carp and black carp) did not exist in the United States until the 1970s.
