An issue with DoorDash’s payment system allowed customers to order food without paying for it on Thursday night.
Users were able to check out without an authorized payment method “for a short period of time,” the company said in an email. Some posted on social media about using fake or expired cards to order food, while others regretted missing the opportunity.

DoorDash said it “immediately fixed the issue” and was working to cancel fraudulent orders. He also said he would compensate restaurants for unauthorized orders.
The company did not say how many “free” transactions took place while the system was down, nor did it confirm whether customers who checked out without paying would be billed retroactively.
I’m not missing out on Doordash’s free food 😩 They fixed this glitch way too fast lmaoooo
It’s the latest hiccup for restaurant ordering systems in recent months. A technology outage at Starbucks last month crippled digital orders at some locations for days, the Wall Street Journal reported. DoorDash crashed for several hours in May. And Grubhub briefly crashed during a free lunch promotion in New York that led to overwhelming demand. As more restaurant transactions shift to digital channels, disruptions like these become more of an issue.
“We work to ensure that we are always providing the highest quality of service to the communities we serve and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” DoorDash said Friday.
