Denmark will develop a climate control system to help residents buy locally sourced food.

According to a Danish Council report on Climate Change, the average Dane could reduce the environmental impact of their diet by 31-45 percent if they follow the Danish dietary guidelines. These tips are based on the EAT-Lancet diet — a diet designed with human and planetary health in mind — and they will announce the creation of new world colors.

In a press release, Rasmus Prehn, Danish Minister for Food, Agriculture, and Fisher, says consumers can find information around indoor food, animal conservation practices, and organic certification. But it is very difficult to know if the food depends on the weather. For this reason, Prehn states, “Denmark should now have a state-controlled name.”

The department believes that the production of a single brand is important to prevent the confusion that arises when customers find similar, competitive colors on the products. Prehn says Danish ecolabel “should be a cohesive brand that consumers can rely on.”

If it works, the new weather label will help Denmark fulfill U.N. Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) – related to use and design.

Laurie Beyranevand, Director of the Center for Agriculture and Food Systems at Vermont Law School, believes the name has a chance, but a closer look at the article will be worth it.

Beyranevand agrees with Prehn that the benefits of a state-controlled name are consistent and transparent. “If we consider some of the privacy certificates in comparison,” Beyranevand tells Food Tank, “people find many animal protection certificates difficult to navigate and rely on assigning animal health agents to create tools and directories that can help inform consumers.

But Beyranevand warns that the label only works if it is accompanied by strong performance, imitation, and analysis. “If the level required by the regimen does not promote development or other environmental requirements, then the name will not do much,” he tells Food Tank.

The Danish Minister for Food is currently setting up a team to work on producing the label. The working group is made up of search teams, government officials, and representatives from Danish supermarket brands.

This climate change project will receive US $ 1.3 million (DKK9m) from the Danish government to achieve its goals. The working group will release their statement at the end of the year.
