CLINTON – Whether you’re a teenager looking for a toy, a young adult looking for cash for a college apartment, a young couple in need of furniture for their first place or just someone looking for treasure among other people’s trash, you need to “Come See Gram. .”

Bill McHugh, whose McHugh Junk Removal has become very successful, opened a new store, One Man’s Trash, behind Varise Bros. Florist, 104 Sterling Street. It is open Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. to 13.00. if the best worker is available. McHugh confirmed on his Facebook page.

And the secret of his early success was not a secret at all. It was a volunteer/employee, Pam McHugh, her “Gram”.

“Opening this store has been an idea since I started the garbage removal business,” says Bill, having started the business in his early 20s. “When the tenant next to our office moved out, we saw this as the perfect opportunity to take over the space and finally open a store.”

And while people come to see the goods in the store, they also come for the friendly greetings they get from Gram.

“My grandmother has always been a big part of my life. She needed something to keep her busy and this has turned out to be perfect for her,” said Billy. “I think that being a part of my business brings me joy. He likes to be involved in any way. He is 78 now and things are not as easy for him as they used to be, but he really loves to be around and do his part to help me sign out “.

And his pride in his grandchildren and their achievements at a young age was evident when he first spoke.

Shop works well with junk removal

“I started McHugh Junk Removal in October 2019 as a weekend side gig to make some extra money,” Bill said in an interview in March. The business took off and now he works with clients to free them.

“We throw away all the garbage and things that cannot be cleaned, of course. We do our best to donate furniture that cannot be resold in quality, but still has life in it and can go to someone who needs it.”, he said. Bill.

Don’t worry about Bill taking advantage of his volunteer workers.

“People should know that Gram is excited about the next chapter of his life,” Bill said. “He works a lot in the store. Our truck team brings his stuff in every day from the clean area and he organizes, cleans and prices everything. It’s a lot of work for him.”

He plans to have a time-themed display, including holidays and — next summer — an area for people going to college.

And as for Bill, you get the product, but, importantly, “Let’s See the Gram”.
