Azteca’s Mexican Cuisine, a restaurant located on Ambassador Caffery Parkway near the Johnston Street intersection, announced it would close its doors last week in a Facebook post.
The restaurant was temporarily closed, but it announced that the closure would be permanent.
“As you may have seen, we are currently closed,” the post read. “We would like to announce that we have decided to close our doors permanently. We want to thank you friends, family and loyal customers for years of business from the bottom of our hearts. So long, friends.”
Lafayette’s hampr closes $5 million funding round
Laundry company hampr, which has been one of the highlights of Lafayette’s growing tech industry over the past few years, closed on a $5 million funding round last week, the company said in a release.

Founded by Laurel Hess in January 2020, the company has expanded to nine states and is in more than 35 major US markets.
“Through incredible investment and support,” Hess said in a release. “We’ve more than tripled the size of our original team, continue to open in exciting markets across the country, and are on the cusp of announcing exciting new membership opportunities. It’s an exciting time to be in the laundry—as it truly is the single task that never stops for busy individuals, single parents and families.”
New Firehouse Subs planned for Johnston Street
Lafayette Consolidated Government issued a commercial demolition permit last week for a future Firehouse Subs location at 5711 Johnston Street, permit records show. Read also : Netflix’s New Tier-1 Marketing System May Not Be a Quick Stock Fix.
The address was previously the home of a Regions Bank. The brand, known for its support of firefighters and first responders, already has three locations in Acadiana. One is on Kaliste Saloom Road, another is in Carencro, and the third is in New Iberia.
Waitr gets extension on deadline to raise stock price
Waitr – which will soon be renamed ASAP – received a 180-day extension to raise its share price above $1, the company said in a filing with the US Securities Exchange Commission. To see also : Competition: United States Wins Women Medley Relay.

The Lafayette-based company had until July 25 to raise its share price above $1 for 10 consecutive business days, although it had been unable to do so. On Friday, the stock opened at $0.34.

ADORN, a jewelry store in Downtown Lafayette, celebrated its 10th anniversary on Friday.

Completeful gets permit for renovation
Complete, the delivery service that purchased the former Northside Wal-Mart, received a permit to renovate the facility on the Northwest Evangeline Thruway.
